Angela returns to the Met this January for “Il Trovatore”

January 4th, 2013

On January 16, Angela makes her only appearance at The Metropolitan Opera this season singing the role of Leonora in her first staged production of Verdi’s Il trovatore. In July she sang Leonora in concert at the Festival Castell de Peralada in Spain, where José Irurzun, reviewing for MusicWeb International, called her “one of today’s most promising voices… beautiful, well suited to the lyric and the lyric-spinto repertoire.” This role is just one of many firsts for the soprano during the 12-13 season. In September she made her critically acclaimed house debut at the Vienna State Opera this September as Elena in I vespri siciliani. This March, Angela performs her first staged Norma —the role that catapulted her to prominence at the 2010 Caramoor Festival—at Washington National Opera in a new production directed by Anne Bogart (March 9-24).
